Most common natural Sarracenia hybrid. Semi-erect pitchers intermediate between the two parents — the recumbent body of S. purpurea and the tall erect tube of S. flava. Purple venation on a yellow-green base. Named by Bateman in 1837 after naturalist Mark Catesby.
